Why we started…
Landscaping with California's natural ecosystems in mind. Our goal is to help you get your landscape to be water wise and drought resistant.
Planting Hope Landscape was started with the plan of creating landscapes with California’s natural ecosystems and climate in mind. Our goal is to help people build or remodel their landscape so that it can thrive in the severe droughts we experience. Historically, California has had droughts every few years. Recently we have seen an increase in the length and severity of these droughts. Right now we are living through the driest year in California history, which also happens to be the longest drought we’ve experienced. With the way things are trending, hotter and drier years are in store, but luckily for us a lot of California native plants are well equipped to handle our dry climate. That’s why we have committed ourselves to using as many California natives as possible in all landscapes we install.
When you decide to include California native plants in your landscape you help many California native animals! This is something we like to keep in mind because as our communities continue to sprawl further into the grasslands it is important to continue to support local ecosystems. When we’re mindful of local ecosystems it helps to mitigate the effects of rising temperatures in our area, so we can continue to enjoy our outdoor spaces.
Did you know that every county in California is under a drought emergency proclamation right now. You might also see the effects of the drought in your water bill; many people across our state have felt this effect. So, we at Planting Hope design all our landscapes with your water bill in mind and work towards lowering the amount of water you need to use to keep your landscape healthy.
About Jon…
I began Planting Hope while attending Oregon State University as a way to pay for school and other finances. With over 5 years of industry experience, I have learned how to install patios, ponds, irrigation systems, and various other trades in the realm of landscaping. Along the way, I have developed the ability to design landscapes with the eyes of an artist as well as the hands of a craftsman. I came up with the name for this business due to my desire to design and build sustainable landscapes with a focus on the environment. Earning a Bachelors in Horticulture gives me an edge in designing landscapes that are better suited to their climate so that they not only provide a service to the surrounding ecosystem but also suits your goals and needs for your backyard.
About Julian…
Hey there, my name is Julian Martinez and I am one part of Planting Hope Landscape. I joined when Jon Morrison decided to move back into the Rocklin area and bring Planting Hope Landscape down with him. I’ve lived in Rocklin for most of my life, I attended Breen Elementary, Granite Oaks Middle School, and Rocklin High. I continued my studies at Sierra College and graduated with an A.S. in Business Management and an A.S. in General Business. I have an a lot of love for the area and would like to personally have my work add to the local beauty. I have many years of experience doing landscaping work with my father at his own landscape company located in Loomis so I can guarantee your landscape is in more than capable hands.
